British Airways (BA) is the national flag carrier of the United Kingdom and one of the world's most famous airlines. Its roots go back to 1919, when one of its earliest companies flew the world's first daily international scheduled service, from London to Paris. British Airways as we know it was formed in 1974, when two main British airlines, BOAC (British Overseas Airways Corporation) and BEA (British European Airways), joined together alongside regional carriers Cambrian Airways and Northeast Airlines.
British Airways has a proud history. From 1976 to 2003, it flew to the supersonic Concorde, crossing the Atlantic in about 3.5 hours. In 1999, it became a founding member of the oneworld alliance, linking travellers to a global network of partner airlines. Today, British Airways flies from its primary hub at London Heathrow (as well as London Gatwick and London City) to more than 200 destinations across more than 75 countries worldwide.
British Airways offers four cabin classes on long-haul flights: World Traveller (Economy), World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy), Club World (Business), and First. Whether you are planning a London city break, a Europe tour, or a business journey, British Airways takes you there in comfort.
