Kuala Lumpur
Founded in 1403, Melaka is Malaysia’s oldest town. Having witnessed the sweep of history as rival colonial powers fought for its possession and occupation, Malacca has an unparalleled legacy of historical relics and monuments left by these invaders, reflected most strongly in its town. The beauty of the town has now been recognised and it has earned the prestigious title of UNESCO World Heritage City in 2008. Melaka is also one of the birthplaces of the Peranakan (Straits-born Chinese), which is also referred to as Baba-Nyonya.
