Malaysian cooking draws from a wide variety of influences, including Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indonesian and Thai. Join us on our culinary tour for an experience that will take you into the heart of our exotic Malaysian food.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrive Kuala Lumpur
Today you arrive in Kuala Lumpur, one of Asia’s most cosmopolitan and dynamic cities. Transfer to your hotel in the city centre and unpack for two nights. The remainder of your day is at leisure.

Day 2: Kuala Lumpur
Begin a full day of exploration by strolling along Jalan Masjid India famed for its market stalls and buzzing local atmosphere. Discover the Masjid Jamek Mosque, located on the confluence of two rivers where the city was original founded in the 19th century. Next continue on to Central Market where you have time to browse a wide variety of products from local artists and craftsmen. Pause for lunch at a favourite local restaurant known for its chicken rice before a photo stop at the world’s famous Petronas Twin Towers. In the evening, stroll along the illuminated Saloma Bridge and admire the glittering lights of the city skyline at night. Later, take your reserved seats at a charming local restaurant 'Limapulo' for a delightful dinner featuring Nyonya cuisine.

Day 3: Kuala Lumpur
Today, visit the Little India where visitors can step back into the past. The streets are alive with Hindi and Tamil music and filled with traditional stalls. It is also the place for saris, silks and textiles. Next, visit a batik workshop where you can try batik painting before pausing to enjoy a lunch offering a traditional banana leaf curry. This evening, hop on a Vespa scooter while your expert guide introduces you to the most delicious food the city has to offer. Throughout the ride, he will share stories and history of Malaysia’s savoury street food as you meander through the multicultural neighbourhood full of hidden gems that few travellers ever get to see.

Day 4: Kuala Lumpur - Melaka
Following breakfast, travel south to the Malaysia’s oldest town, Melaka, first settled in 1376. Relive history as you walk through the city’s historic buildings including the Stadthuys, St. Paul’s Church and the mighty fortress - Porta de Santiago, built by the Portuguese in 1512. Enjoy a Peranakan lunch - a unique combination of Malay and Chinese cuisine before settling into your hotel where you will spend one night. This evening, savour a taste of Melaka with dinner featuring Portuguese flavours such as ikan bakar (grilled fish), Devil’s curry, fried prawn and rice.

Day 5: Melaka - Cameron Highlands
Travel this morning to fascinating hill stations of Cameron Highlands, described by British Surveyor William Cameron in 1885 as a ‘fine plateau with gentle slopes shut in by lofty mountains’. Arriving the highlands, visit a farmer’s market where there is a vibrant display of tropical fruits, vegetables and flowers all of which are grown by local farmers. Later, be enchanted by the array of colour and pleasant aromas at Rose Garden, home to rosebushes of over 100 different varieties. Tonight, enjoy a steamboat dinner and back to the hotel to relax as the sounds and peaceful melody of the highlands lull you to sleep.

Day 6: Cameron Highlands - Ipoh
Ipoh awaits! Check out of your hotel after breakfast and visit a tea plantation factory where you can learn about the process the leaves go through between the plant and your cup. Arriving Ipoh, enjoy an early, light lunch with a chance to try the famous curry chicken bread (a curry chicken stuffed in a giant bread). Continue on to Kek Lok Tong temple, an impressive work of art and faith before arriving at your hotel in the heart of the city where you’ll stay for one night. Tonight, enjoy a claypot chicken rice (cooked on a charcoal stove) which gives the dish a distinctive flavour and aroma.

Day 7: Ipoh - Penang
Journey north to Penang, Malaysia best-loved resort. Arriving the island, unpack for two nights at the beach resort. This evening, walk along the Gurney Drive and enjoy an authentic experience dining at one of the many hawker centres.

Day 8: Penang
This morning, roll up your sleeves and prepare to cook some of the region’s local specialities during an interactive cooking session with the chef at the Tropical Spice Garden followed by lunch. Classes are kept intentionally small so you can enjoy a personalised attention of the professional chefs. The remainder of your day is at leisure to relax, shop or explore independently.

Day 9: Depart Penang
Your tour comes to a close, leaving you with many pleasant memories of a wonderful culinary journey. Transfer to the airport for your flight back to Kuala Lumpur.
