ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrive Kuala Lumpur
Welcome to Kuala Lumpur, one of Asia’s most cosmopolitan and dynamic cities. Transfer to your hotel where you’ll be staying for three nights. This evening, take a short walk to a local restaurant, enjoying the vibe of the city and kick off your holiday with a welcome dinner.

Day 2: Kuala Lumpur
With a local expert, see the best of Kuala Lumpur on a panoramic tour and zoom to the city’s time-honoured landmarks. Soak in the history of the preserved Masjid Jamek mosque, lies on the site where the city of Kuala Lumpur was founded. An architectural masterpiece of Moorish artisanship, the mosque opened its doors more than 100 years ago, making it one of the oldest mosques in Malaysia. Then, stroll along the river and get an in-depth look at the Independence Square where every year, in the morning of the Malaysia’s national day celebration, (31 August), thousands of spectators converge in front of this monument to watch the colourful parade along the street. Spend some time browsing the arts and crafts shops at the Central Market with an opportunity to try one of the local delicacies - cendol.

Continue on to the spiritual Batu Caves, a limestone hill riddled with caves and cave temples. Walk the nearly 300 stairs to the top to see this amazing structure and learn about the Hindu mythology as you climb past shrines and see local pilgrims. At the world’s famous Royal Selangor pewter factory, learn about the intricate artistry that goes into each piece and enjoy a guided tour of the foundry where you can watch how this alloy is turned into popular souvenirs. The tour wraps up with a visit to a batik workshop and learn how local artists create this exquisite fabric.

Day 3: Melaka
Following breakfast, depart for Melaka - Malaysia’s oldest town. The Portuguese, Dutch and British ruled over Melaka's silk and spice trade for centuries and these invaders have left an unparalleled legacy of historical relics and monuments, reflected most strongly in its town. The beauty of the town has now been recognised and it was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2008. Relive history as you walk through the city’s historic buildings including the Stadthuys, St. Paul’s Church and the mighty fortress - Porta de Santiago, built by the Portuguese in 1512. Then, have time to stroll along the Jonker Street, known for its antiques, souvenirs, arts and crafts.

Day 4: Kuala Lumpur - Cameron Highlands
Leave the city this morning and travel to the fascinating hill stations of Cameron Highlands, described by British Surveyor William Cameron in 1885 as a ‘fine plateau with gentle slopes shut in by lofty mountains’. Arriving at the foothill of the highlands, begin your ascend through the mountain road, lined with giant tree-ferns and indigenous homes. Upon arrival, visit the tea plantation before check into your hotel.

Day 5: Cameron Highlands - Penang
This morning, take in the cooling scenery of the highlands by visiting farmer’s market and rose garden. Then, take a stroll through the cactus valley and find yourself surrounded by hundred variety of cacti and succulents in varied forms. Continue your journey to Penang, Malaysia’s best-loved resort. En-route, make a stop at the royal town of Kuala Kangsar. Pause for a moment as you reflect on the impressive views of Ubudiah Mosque and Royal Museum, built without using a single metal nail. Upon arrival in Penang, settle in to your hotel for two nights.

Day 6: Penang
Your morning is at leisure to explore independently or simply relax at the hotel. This afternoon, you’ll come to know the history of Georgetown on a locally guided tour. Hear stories of the city’s past and present as you drive past its famous landmarks including Fort Cornwallis, Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower, Clan Jetty and Street of Harmony where mosque, kovil, temple and church sit along the same short stretch of road. Visit the Peranakan Museum for a glimpse into the state’s rich heritage and make stops at Wat Chayamangkalaram Siamese temple and Dhammikarama Burmese temple to take in their striking architectural style. Later, pay a visit to a favourite local chocolate shop for an opportunity to browse some of its finest products.

Day 7: Depart Penang
Your tour comes to a close, leaving you with many pleasant memories of a wonderful holiday. Transfer to the airport for your onward flight. Alternatively, spend a few more days relaxing on the beach in the resort of your choice.
