3D2N Danum Valley - The Hidden World of Borneo
One of the largest conservation areas in the world, Danum Valley is home to towering trees and it is considered a true biodiversity hotspot with several rare and endangered species occur here, including the orangutans, pygmy elephants, clouded leopards and proboscis monkey. About 94% of the plant species in Danum Valley are from the dipterocarp genus, with many of these species are endemic to Borneo.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Lahad Datu - Danum Valley
Welcome to Lahad Datu – your journey starts here. Meet your driver on arrival and you are on your way to explore a place that is unlike anywhere else in the world - Danum Valley. Seemingly endless evergreen rainforests, the valley is home to some of nature’s best-kept secrets. Get away from it all and settle in to your lodge set in the middle of the jungle, your home for two nights. After a brief orientation and lunch, we begin to explore the valley. A guided walk takes you along nature trails and canopy walkways to see the tropical plants and wildlife for which this area is renowned for. Following dinner, set out for a night drive in search of nocturnal animals (weather permitting).

Day 2: Danum Valley
The Coffin Trail awaits you this morning as you take a guided walk to an ancient Kadazan-dusun burial site. A 40-minute climb rewards you with stunning views from a magnificent look-out point. Then enjoy a swim at the natural Jacuzzi pool before returning to your lodge for lunch. Another nature walk this afternoon takes you through lush rainforest, alongside the river.

Day 3: Danum Valley - Lahad Datu
This morning, take advantage of free time at leisure to explore the surroundings and simply soak up the atmosphere. Then, bid Danum Valley farewell as your driver transfers you back to the airport.
