Taman Negara: Experiences You Can’t Afford to Miss!

Taman Negara, Malaysia’s iconic national park is a treasure trove of natural wonders and biodiversity. Renowned as the world’s oldest tropical rainforest, this pristine ecosystem spans over three states: Pahang, Kelantan, and Terengganu. Over 130 million years, making it a living testament to nature's resilience and beauty. Originally named King George V National Park during the colonial era, it was renamed Taman Negara (National Park) following Malaysia's independence, symbolizing its importance as a national heritage site. 

In Taman Negara there are various activities that can be done while visiting. Suitable for 7 years old and above.  

Among the most popular activities is canopy walking. The activity is 40-meters tall and has a length of 450-meters and has become the longest suspension bridge in the world. You will see a view of Mount Tahan from Teresek Hilland.   

This activity will start at 9:30 am and closed at 3:00 pm everyday  

Boat Cruise to Lata Berkoh 

Embark on the journey, feel the air breeze to your face while cruise along Sungai Tahan and dip yourself into the refreshing natural jacuzzi at Lata Berkoh. Later on, they will stop at humongous Tualang Tree and the Kelah fish sanctuary for a chance to snorkel with freshwater fishes.  

Rapid Shooting  

For adrenaline junkies, the rapid shooting experience is a must! Brace yourself as you navigate seven roaring rapids, with opportunities for birdwatching and fishing along the way. It’s equal parts thrilling and breathtaking. 

Picnic at Tembeling River  

Imagine this, a scenic boat ride past Orang Asli settlements and through five exhilarating rapids, followed by a tranquil riverside picnic. Feel the soft sand beneath your feet, take a rejuvenating swim, and savor a packed snack while soaking in the lush views of Sungai Tembeling. 

Hornbill Valley  

Fan of birdwatching and love exotic birds? You should sign up to observe the hornbill birds find their food. This activity will take up approximately 2-3 hours and while you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the oldest rainforests in the world, 130 million years old scenery while you are there.  

Orang Asli Settlements 

While you are there don't forget to pay a visit Orang Asli settlements and spend a time to learn about their culture and beliefs. They are located in the Taman Negara which lead a nomadic lifestyle. They are called Batek, and their settlements are found along the trails whilst some are accessible by boat.  

Night Jungle Walk 

If you’re someone who loves a bit of nighttime excitement, this activity is perfect for you! Venture into the rainforest after dark and uncover the vibrant nightlife of its wildlife. From the hide observation deck, you’ll have the chance to witness the nocturnal world come alive. Walk through the forest under the cover of night and discover fascinating nocturnal plants and insects.
