Ah, December. It’s finally here! While Malaysia will never experience winter, the malls don’t lie. The Christmas carols, fairy lights, Christmas trees and shops bursting with Christmas offers are everywhere. But with more than just sales on offer, these malls are hitting the headlines for their over the top Christmas decorations. And we love it!
If you’re in Malaysia and looking for the best Christmas decorations in town, then this guide is perfect for you.

Very few malls do decorations better than Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. Pavilion Kuala Lumpur introduces a different theme every year and this time, we are treated to a mindblowing intergalactic experience!
Held in collaboration with Disney, you will see this galactic Christmas decoration the moment you enter through the main entrance to the Centre Court. A huge replica of the Millennium Falcon takes center stage and at 40 feet in height and 30 feet in width, this replica has even made it into the Malaysia Book of Records for the “Biggest Replica of the Millennium Falcon”!
There are also experiential pop-ups and photo booths of the hyperdrive tunnel and cockpit to give your photos that sprinkle of extra galactic dust. For the children, there are scheduled Star Wars Jedi experiences, and a meet and greet with famous Star Wars characters like C-3PO, R2-D2 and Stormtroopers, and life-size Sith Troopers along the Spanish Steps.
One thing is for sure: you can’t escape the Jedi experience when you come to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur!

If spaceships aren’t your thing, how about Santa’s Toyland?
Organised by Mid Valley Megamall and HSBC, this is another mall that splurges and brings out all the fun and riotous joy that comes with the Christmas season. If you are an HSBC Credit Cardholder, there are special redemption offers available for everything from Santa’s Advent Sleigh and Elves’ Sugar Machines to Christmas Mugs and Christmas Patchwork Pillows.
To get into the mood, Mid Valley Megamall also has plenty of activities and performances in store. Children can meet Santa Claus or witness a Festive Character Walkabout and Christmas Dancing Show. There are also traditional Christmas Carols and a brass band ensemble on 22 December showcasing classic Christmas songs.
Finally, Mid Valley Megamall is hosting a wide range of workshops that will let you create your own personalised gifts for this coming Christmas. Everything from learning to bake and decorate your Christmas cookies to learning how to make festive candles, Christmas ornaments, pastel artworks and jute bags.

These two mega malls (pun intended) are located next to each other and also joined by a sky bridge, making it easy to hit two gorgeous malls in one visit!
Come to the Gardens for a frosty Christmas. Glistening chandeliers overhead, icicles erupting from the ground, and twinkling Christmas trees and polar bears all around. And if you’re lucky, you might even meet Santa & Ms Claus, the Wandering magician and the Snow Queen!

Located at the Ground Floor Central of Berjaya Times Square Kuala Lumpur, you’ll be forgiven for thinking that you’ve stepped into another world. Gigantic Christmas balls hang all around the atrium, vivid splashes of red and white glitter in the air and on the many Christmas trees that have been erected all around the mall.
There are many free workshops and yuletide weekend activities in store for visitors, including a limited edition ambient Christmas crystal ball for those who meet the requisite minimum spending! Come here for the gifts, Christmas vibes, performances and a very red Christmas!
Just around the corner from Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and a mere 20 minutes’ walk via the covered Bintang Walkway, there is Suria KLCC. The theme this year is Christmas Wonders in White and there is indeed a great deal of wonderment in store for visitors.
From 22 November to 29 December, you will be treated to a wide range of workshops, performances, carols and a meet & greet with Santa Claus and Ms Claus! We recommend visiting this page so that you know when your favourite events are being held.
If you ask us, we think that the Christmas Card Typography workshop and Christmas Candle-Making workshop sound pretty exciting!

Sunway Pyramid is hosting The Great Christmas Market from 22 November to 29 December and we couldn’t be more excited!
Every weekend leading up to Christmas Day, children will have the chance to meet Santa Claus. There are also workshops teaching participants how to make a mini Santa Sled or Santa Binoculars, and retail booths for your last minute Christmas shopping.
What makes the Christmas festivities at Sunway Pyramid special is due to two things:
- Sunway Pyramid has a mobile app that lets you complete a special Christmas e-passport which then qualifies you for a special lucky draw; and
- There is a special Furoshiki gift wrap service available if you meet the spending limit. The perfect way to have a sustainable Christmas!

Lasting until 1 January 2020, Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru has some interesting things in store for its customers. Not least, the “Biggest Upside Down Christmas Tree” in its Ground Floor Concourse area, as certified by the Malaysia Book of Records!
Apart from the gigantic trees, there are also Cartoon Network’s adorable We Bare Bears characters, who are present to bring Christmas cheer all of Paradigm Mall’s guests. There are also many children-centric activities held every week, including workshops on snow globes, Christmas wreaths and 3D pop-up greeting cards.
And if you come at the right time, you might just get a hug from Grizzly, Panda and Ice Bear!

Queensbay Mall is one of the biggest malls in Penang and it is only fitting that it has one of the grandest Christmas decorations in Malaysia.
This year, Queensbay Mall has been overtaken by a whole horde of bears, penguins wrapped in scarves and hats, reindeer, seals and owls! With a brilliant cascade of shimmering fairy lights and snowflakes hanging overhead, the central atrium is a magical South Pole that you don’t want to miss.
If you’re heading to this northern island, look out for the live musical of Kayla’s Candyland Adventure. Children and adults alike will doubtlessly be thrilled by the adventure of defeating the Sour Queen and saving Candyland Kingdom. And when the adventure is done, there is also plenty of shopping that can be done at the Christmas Rendezvous and X’mas Gifts Galore!
