For those planning a trip to Pulau Tioman, there are two departure points to choose from: Jetty Tanjung Gemok or Jetty Mersing. 

Most tourists prefer departing from Jetty Tanjung Gemok as it offers more convenience with minimal changes to the departure schedule. On the other hand, Jetty Mersing’s schedule largely depends on the tide levels. 

Here are some pro tips for purchasing your tickets: 

  1. Avoid purchasing tickets as a walk-in during weekends, school holidays, or public holidays, especially during peak seasons. 

  1. If you’ve already booked accommodation, kindly check with your agent to see if they can arrange ferry tickets for you. 

  1. Ticket prices start from RM60, but they may be slightly higher during festive seasons, depending on the ferry operator. 

  1. For online ticket purchases, ensure you arrive early to redeem your boarding pass, and don’t forget to buy the Marine Park Conservation ticket. 

  1. If you’re prone to seasickness, be prepared with a plastic bag and take seasickness pills to ensure a comfortable journey. 

A significant part of Pulau Tioman has been developed for tourism and agriculture. The Pulau Tioman Marine Park, situated in Kampung Tekek, has been gazetted by the government to preserve marine life, particularly coral reefs, from fishing activities. This marine park encompasses up to 14 islands, including Pulau Reggis, Pulau Tiomok, Pulau Labas, and Pulau Seri Buat. Entrance to the marine park and information center is free, both open from 9.30am to 6pm daily. During the monsoon months, the information center is closed but the marine park remains open. Don't worry, the area offers numerous facilities for visitors, such as diving equipment rentals and a variety of restaurants.

For turtle lovers, a must-visit is the Juara Turtle Project. From February to October, turtles come ashore to lay their eggs in two locations: Kampung Bunut and Kampung Juara. You can join activities such as collecting eggs and learning about turtle conservation methods. You also can learn more about turle life and have a chance to free them away. To sustain the numbers of turtles and avoid them from predators at a young age such as human beings, seagulls and big fish. Entrance is free and open from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Pulau Tioman consists of eight small islands: Pulau Sepoi, Pulau Chebeh, Pulau Soyak, Pulau Renggis, Pulau Tulai, Pulau Jahat, Pulau Tomok, and Pulau Bahara.
